Ranking System E-mail

There are two different types of ranking, each with its own progression. The first section below is dedicated to "Raiding Members", and the latter is focused on the "Social Members" aspect of the guild, both of which are important to our success as a guild.

If you have any questions about the rank system, or any of the criteria for any of the ranks, please ask Gryss (other officers will just refer you back to Gryss).

RAIDING MEMBERS

These are not static criteria that if specifically met, will result in automatic promotion. These ranks are earned, and will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. Rankings may change on the fly if officers agree that criteria have not been met. Promotions will be discussed by officers prior to the promotion. Officers can choose to make exceptions for any of the qualification criteria.

Many of the qualities that will allow guild members to progress through the raiding ranks relate to an increased level of commitment. Listed below are some of the things the officers will use in determining rankings and promotions or demotions.

Baseline Raiding Requirements:
- Utilize badges to upgrade gear, rather than hoarding them for possible future trophies/tier items. (Having ilvl200 Trinket and link for trophy with 180 badges is frowned upon.)
- Enchant and gem all gear with the best available enchants and gems, even if you anticipate getting an upgrade soon
- Max professions
- Class-specific Food
- Fully prepared for encounter, watched the video before raid, and read written strategy to get an idea of the abilities and encounter mechanics.
- Has gold for repairs, etc.
- If gear is looted one day it must enchanted the next day if we are raiding and you are planning to use it.
- Good situational awareness, handles environmental effects well (e.g. Flame Tsunami, Void Zones, Yogg clouds, Razorscale fire, etc)
- Willingness to respec if needed to pick up a particularly useful talent
- Follows the Raid Guidelines

Criteria for "Raiding" rank upgrades:

R1: (from any lower rank)
All classes
- Successful Trial period
- Know encounters, but not expecting to be pro at the encounter due to possibility of limited exposure.
- Attends as many raids as possible; available for raids even if they don't get an invite. Willing to sit on wait list for a raid spot. Willing to put together/attend 10 man raids or alt 25 man raids to get more raid experience and a chance to improve gear.
- Notifies an officer or posts on forums if will be unavailable to raid for an extended period of time (military deployment, medical or family issues, focus on school, etc)
- Gemmed / Enchanted with best available
- Gear should be previous 10 man tier or better
- Know your class
- Willing to wipe for progression
Healing
- Understands any healing assignments given, keeps their assigned target(s) alive
- Good management of mana
- Acceptable/appropriate activity levels and overhealing for class/spec/assignment

R2: (in addition to the criteria from R1)
General
- Proper epic quality gems / BiS enchants before you show to raids.
- Showing exceptional performance increases over R1 raiders, and not only on gimmicky fights.
- Highly knowledgeable, and prepared for encounter with limited explanation of basic fight mechanics.
- Have at least previous 25 man tier gear or better equipped in all slots
- Proven 100% knowledge of your class, rotations, etc.
- Attends most raids; is available for all raids even if they don’t get an invite. Willing to sit on wait list if needed.
- Notifies an officer or posts on forums if they will miss a raid.
- Willing to wipe for progression
DPS
- Be within the high average of all DPS / Damage for encounters. Not expecting top-5 but be competitive. Preferably within the 20th percentile range of DPS. This needs to be on a consistent basis. (Exception on fights where you have a specific role which limits extended DPS rotations [this won’t be given to people in lower ranks])
Tanking
- Quickly react to trash and adds to pick them up without other dying
- Know best times to fire defensive cooldowns for general fights
- Know how to best position mobs to maximize raid accessibility and dps
- Be able to maintain threat strong enough to not lose aggro on average boss fights
Healing
- Uses dispel abilities frequently and without being reminded for fights where they are needed (shamans also dropping cleansing totem)
- Dual spec with a competent DPS spec (should be comparable to at least the low-end of raid DPS); willing to switch specs and raid as DPS if needed. [Waivable by vote of all officers if they feel a particular healer needs to remain as heals] **NOTE: people willing to switch specs regularly and DPS frequently may get additional priority on offspec (DPS) loot.
- Some healers may need two distinct healing specs to fulfill different raid roles (e.g. Holy/Disc) or have a special spec for a gimmicky fight, rather than a healing spec and a DPS spec.

R3: (in addition to the criteria from R1/R2)
General
- Wants progression and has a positive attitude about it; constantly wants to be challenged
- Next to perfect attendance
- Minimum previous 25 man tier gear, and usually most current tier pieces (exceptions noted)
- Next to BiS gear (hope) ^^^^
- Completely knowledgeable in all parts of the game including other classes, and how the mechanics of these abilities impact the encounter outcome.
- Willingness to help lower ranks in 10-man runs and pass loot to them.
DPS
- Always has Haste potions or equivalent
- Top-5 DPS consistently, or within 1% of the Top-5 (exceptions noted)
Tanking
- Quickly react to fight changes in momentum to prevent wipes and keep mobs tanked
- Maintain high threat to prevent aggro loss on nearly all bosses/fights
- Know best times to fire defensive cooldowns and to take advantage of healer cooldowns on all fights based on current guild strat.
- Know the strengths and weaknesses of fellow tanks to best address each encounter
Healing
- Clear understanding of boss fights and what to expect in role of MT healer or raid healer, anticipates what parts of fight will be spike damage/raidwide damage and uses abilities appropriately (e.g., Guardian Spirit, Pain Suppression, Divine Sacrifice, Aura Mastery, etc)
- Flexibility in healing roles; is able to help with additional healing needed if another healer dies, without neglecting their healing assignment
- Communicates well with other healers regarding allocation of healing assignments and buffs; is able to coordinate to use each class's abilities to their fullest potential to benefit the raid

SOCIAL MEMBERS
(Non-Raiding Ranks)

E - "Elder"
Elders are guild members with well-established, long-term loyalty to Lucid. Some of them were founding members or have been with us almost from inception, others joined us along the way. Some made contributions to our raiding progression in the past and although they are no longer able to raid with us, they stayed because they made friends here in the guild and still involve themselves with guild activities. Others are people who might not raid much, but have gone above and beyond to help other guild members with running heroics, getting achievements, running alts through lowbie instances for gear and XP, and other very social and supportive guild activities.

M - "Member"

This is the standard guild rank for members who have successfully completed their trial period. Full members get guild discount on items from the gbank, and have full access to the Member Forums on the guild website.

T - "Trial"
All new members start as this rank. Trial members remain at this rank for 4 weeks unless they are returning members, in which case they have a 2 week trial period. Trial members have slightly lower priority on gear and do not recieve full guild discount on items from the gbank.

Guild members are encouraged to post their impressions and experiences with trial members in the trial threads in the Member forums, as this helps inform the officers about whether we should keep a new trial member, and if so, what rank to promote them to once they complete their trial period.  It also helps officers give trial members feedback about their performance and how well they seem to fit in with others in the guild.

A - "Alt"
This is the rank for all alts in the guild, regardless of the rank of the person's main. (Exception- officers each have up to one alt with officer rank in order to facilitate running alt raids; any other alts they have in guild will have alt rank.)

FWB - "Fucked with the bank"

This is the lowest guild rank. You will be demoted to this rank if you do something really obnoxious including, but not limited to, moving all the stuff in the guild bank around in a disorganized fashion so no one can find anything.
