What You Should Know About Lucid Before Submitting An Application
About Lucid:
Lucid is a raiding guild which
strives to be player-friendly. We believe that we all play this game to
have fun, and that real life obligations should come before WoW. We aim
to create a positive and supportive guild environment full of people
who actually enjoy playing with each other.
Nonetheless, as a progression raiding guild, we take raids seriously and expect
people to be consistent, attentive, and prepared when they raid with
us, and to let us know if they will not be able to attend. For more information on our schedule and how we run raids, please check our RAID SCHEDULE and RAID GUIDELINES. If you are intending to raid with us, we
expect you to be available at these times and follow the guidelines. If you have poor raid attendance and show up unprepared for raids, you may be gkicked or given "Social Member" status at the end of your trial period. If something IRL comes up during your trial period, please let an officer know so we can extend your trial.
We periodically open and close
recruitment for the guild as a whole or for specific classes as we gain
and lose members, and as our goals for the guild change. Anyone is
welcome to submit an application, whether recruitment is open or
closed.
If we are not recruiting for a particular class, we may be somewhat
less responsive to applications for that class unless you are applying
as a social member only or are exceptional in some way.
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for
skilled, reliable, experienced raiders who have 25-man gear of the last tier of content or better,
can make it to all scheduled 25-man raids, and have solid experience
raiding Wrath content. We may make limited exceptions for a class/spec
we need badly if you are a skilled player.
We are looking for the following qualities in new members:
1) Consistent raid attendance to further our progression (attending all scheduled 25-man raids)
2) Appropriate level/quality gear (T9.5 or better)
3) Mastery of class skills and abilities (pulling your weight in the raid)
4) Desire to participate in raid progression (willing to show up, wipe and pay for repairs as part of this)
5) Positive and willing attitude
We may contact you and ask
that you come group or raid with us as a tryout so that we have an
opportunity to get to know you better and see your playing style and
ability first-hand before making a decision.
If you like, you can post a link to a recent WWS report in your application to demonstrate your ability.
SOCIAL MEMBERS:
If you are not
intending to raid and you are applying to the guild as a "social
member" only (you have a friend in our guild and you want to play with
them more but you do not expect to be able to attend every raid), you MUST indicate in your application that you are applying as a Social
Member, AND THE NAME OF YOUR FRIEND IN LUCID. If you say that you want to join to play with a friend, and then fail to tell us who that friend is, WE WILL DENY YOUR APPLICATION WITHOUT ANY FURTHER REVIEW- we don't want to waste time playing detective trying to figure out whose friend you are when you are aren't applying for a raid spot. If you don't tell us that you are applying as social,
we assume you are applying as a regular 3 to 4 day a week raiding
member and will evaluate you on that basis during your trial period.
How We Handle Loot:
We distribute raid loot based on a LOOT COUNCIL system, which takes
many factors into consideration, including what most strengthens the
raid as a whole and supports our progression, and who contributes most
to the guild and raid.
Trial members get lower priority on loot. This is not because we don't like you or to punish you, but to prevent people from "looting and scooting" with gear that we could have given to another player to help our guild continue its progression. If this loot system is something you do not think you will
be happy with, please do not apply to our guild.
What To Expect While You Are a Trial Member:
If your application to the guild is accepted, you will be
sent an invite in-game and will be put on trial status for 4 weeks.
During this time, you will have the same privileges as most
members, with a few exceptions:
*Raid loot: Trial members will have less priority than full
members wanting an item for main spec (as well as R2 and R3 members who are asked to switch frequently in raids between two specs), but more priority than a full
member wanting an item for off-spec that they don't really raid with.
*Raid spots: Trial members will not be guaranteed a raid spot; no one really is. Priority for invites roughly corresponds to guild rank, with R3 people getting first invites and R2 getting second invites. However, if you show up prepared and on time, we will give you the opportunity to prove your ability in raids, and if you pull your weight well, you may get an invite over full members. We recommend that you review our Ranking System so that you have a good understanding of what specific expectations we have for each rank. Trial members are
also expected to know and follow the Raiding Guidelines.
*Guild bank: Trial members wanting an item from the guild bank will pay 75% of the going AH price.
*Alts and Friends: Trial
members' alts and friends who want to join as social members will not
be invited to the guild until they have successfully completed their trial period.
*Guild site: Trial members will remain "Registered" users on our
website during their probationary period. When you are granted full
member status, you will be bumped to "Member" status on the guild site
and will then be able to view the Member Forums and any other Member
only content on the site.
Our officers are happy to answer any questions you have about the guild and explain how any aspect of it works (although if you have an urgent question, you of course may ask anyone in the guild). It is very important that you read the Guild Policies, Raiding Guidelines, and Loot Council sections of our website; if you have any questions about them, we will be more than happy to answer those questions.
During the time that you are on trial, officers and other guild members will be getting to know you and will be leaving comments and feedback about you in your probation thread in the Member Forums. We will try to discuss any important and relevant feedback with you to let you know if there are any things that the guild is particularly pleased with or concerned about. We may refer you to talk to a specific guild member who may have specific questions or suggestions for you. If you don't get any feedback from our officers, feel free to ask any of them how they feel you are doing.
You will not be able to see your own probation thread, because you cannot see the Member Forums while you are on trial. However, once
you successfully complete your trial period, you will be able to see
the probation threads of other people who are still in their trial
period and we encourage you to leave feedback about them in turn. This is a process we have
found very useful in evaluating whether a new member is a "good fit" in
terms of personality and social aspects of the guild, as well as
evaluating performance, improvements, and responsiveness to feedback.
If you skipped reading the information above, go back and read it before you
If you are accepted or we want
to take you on a trial run, you should hear from Gryss or another
officer in-game via mail or tell within seven (7) days after you submit
your application on the site. (If you are not accepted, you might not
hear from us at all).
If you have any questions or want to inquire about your application status, please contact Gryss in-game.
